Insurance companies are all over the airwaves with great adds. i have to admit some of them are really great. One touts a piggy and his antics, another says they are the biggest with more customers than several others.  Another says they will keep you out of trouble for less money and offers just state minimum coverage. So how do you know what insurance is best. From an agents aspect there are several things you need to know.

1-What is the AM Best rating of the company. This tells you how well a carrier can meets it’s claims needs.

2-What coverage are you buying. Would you be protected if you have a large claim and you only carried minimum limits?

3-Is price important? Yes, of course it is but what if someone could give you a good price with better coverage. you have to do some homework and have a good independant agent shop the price for you.

4-”I’m insured with a BIG company”. That could be good but if you have less coverage than you need it is not a great idea.
